Professor Askie has the position of Methods Scientist, a newly created role within the division of the Chief Scientist. In this role, she will be responsible for overseeing and improving the scientific methods underpinning WHO 'norms and standards products' such as public health guidelines, child growth norms, immunization standards and many others.
She will also contribute to dealing with newly emerging challenges such as developing norms and standards in an epidemic context through fostering innovative study design and developing open platforms for data sharing.
Professor Askie said, "It will no doubt be a very interesting, but quite challenging job, and will mean a change in direction for me from being a University academic to an international civil servant".
Congratulations Lisa! We wish you all the best in the new exciting role.
