To prevent childhood obesity, there needs to be bold measures taken including multi-sectorial action that often lies outside the health sector. This includes having restrictions on discretionary food and drink advertising to children and introducing a tax on sugar-sweetened beverages, with the objectives of reducing consumption and accelerating the reformulation of products.
